Rerunning documents in Process Reporting

You can rerun documents directly from the Process Reporting page without re-executing the process, which is useful when troubleshooting or reprocessing data that no longer exists in the source system. For example, a process gets and deletes files from a trading partner's FTP site, so those files no longer exist after the first execution. You can reprocess one of those files directly from the Process Reporting page without having your trading partner recreate the file.

You can rerun the following documents:

  • Successful or failed documents from the Start step, including documents from a process that failed because the runtime stopped running. You can rerun all documents, all documents with errors, all successful documents, or only the documents you select.

  • Successful or failed documents in a Trading Partner connection. You can rerun all documents, all documents with errors, all successful documents, or only the documents you select.

Here are considerations and limitations about rerunning documents:

  • Test mode executions do not produce documents that you can rerun.

  • You can rerun documents in test mode. When selecting one or more inbound documents, this feature launches a pop-up that sends the documents through the latest process version on the Build page so you can troubleshoot inbound documents from beginning to end through each step. Be sure to enable pop-ups for platform.boomi.com.

  • You can rerun a document from a subprocess, but ensure that the subprocess has been deployed.

  • You can rerun documents only in subprocesses with a Start step connector.

  • You cannot rerun the document from a subprocess if the subprocess is only deployed as part of the primary process.

  • You cannot rerun documents in subprocesses with passed data.

Rerunning one or more documents

  1. Go to Manage > Process Reporting

By default, all process executions that occurred in the account within the past hour are displayed.

  2. (Optional) Change the search options and filters to locate the process executions you need. Refer to Finding process executions or documents for more information.

  3. In the results table, find the process and click the date/time link.

  4. In the process execution detail view, locate the connection with the documents you want to rerun and click the connection's Successes or Errors link.

    The connection documents list displays.

  5. To rerun one document, click the Actions icon and select Re-run Document or Re-run Document in Test Mode. Then click OK.

  6. To rerun multiple documents:

    a. Do one of the following:

    • Select the check box at the top of the list to select all documents on a single page. This allows you to select up to 25 documents. (Clear this check box to clear your selections.)

    • Select check boxes next to individual documents on a single page.

    • If you want to rerun all documents, all documents with errors or all successful documents in the process execution, do not select any documents.

If the number of inbound documents spans multiple pages and you select documents on multiple pages, the rerun only runs the documents on the current page.

b. Click Re-run documents or Re-run documents in Test Mode.

c. Select one of the following: All Errors, All Successes or (if you selected documents in step 6a) Selected.

d. Click OK.

You cannot rerun more than 100 documents in test mode. If you select more than 100, an error message appears.

Rerunning failed documents

  1. Go to Manage > Process Reporting

By default, all process executions that occurred in the account within the past hour are displayed.

  2. (Optional) Change the search options and filters to locate the process execution you need. Refer to Finding process executions or documents for more information.

  3. In the results table, find the process that failed and click the date/time link.

The process execution detail view opens. It includes a Documents with Errors table.

  4. Click the error description in the Error Message column.

The Document Error detail view appears.

  5. Click the Actions icon and select Re-run Document or Re-run Document in Test Mode. Then click OK.

If there are additional documents, click Next and repeat this step for each document you want to rerun.
